We thank all of you who have supported our work during the COVID-19 crisis. Because of you we are meeting the urgent needs of Westchester's low-income families.
Supporting Families & Individuals DailySince the beginning of the COVID crisis, we have raised approximately $400,000 for our Emergency Assistance Fund. $300,000 has been allocated to direct client fund assistance benefiting 300 local immigrants and their families. These funds help families with rent, groceries, medical expenses and utilities. The remaining $100,000 has been allocated to support numerous local food distributions and critical medical expenses for our clients.
In response to the overwhelming need in our community, we have created the CRC COVID-19 Rapid Response Team. This team is handling hundreds of calls per week. |
Language Classes Continue OnlineEvery week we are virtually connecting our ESL students with their volunteer teachers whose commitment has not waivered during this difficult time. We are also continuing high school equivalency classes and citizenship classes every Saturday with partner Southern Westchester BOCES.
Our Youth Leadership Programs also continue online and have gone global. Young CRC Leaders are connecting with youth around the globe to share their wisdom and coping strategies for handling the COVID-19 pandemic. |
Immigration Legal ServicesOur Immigration Legal Services team has been busy with online consultations.
We have offered online DACA workshops and have completed dozens of DACA renewals and unemployment applications. The team is also working on videos and flyers to keep immigrants up to date on COVID-19 programs available to help them navigate this tough time. |
Food Pantry & Coalition for Community Food DistributionsDue to the generous support from our community, CRC has contributed $60,000 to local food distributions. Demand from Mamaroneck and Larchmont residents has increased from 450 bags of non-perishable food and fresh produce every other week to 1400 bags. Food insecurity will remain a harsh reality for our clients in the coming weeks.
With our coalition partners, individuals in our community have benefited in the following ways:
|
Care Package Drop-OffWe have worked with CURE – the Coalition of Understanding Racism through Education--to organize a collection of essential items for families in need.
