At the Community Resource Center (formerly known as Hispanic Resource Center) our goal is to provide the tools new immigrant families need to become self-sufficient and active members of the community.
CRC Responds to Community Needs
Because of recent federal policy decisions, the CRC has had to divert already scarce money and manpower from its traditional services to address the deluge of requests the Center has received for help with immigration issues. Heartbreakingly, the inquiries we most often receive concern children's rights. As a result, one of the CRC's most important services now is working with parents to create emergency plans designed to ensure their children's care and safety and give families their best chance to remain intact.
Since the beginning of the year, the CRC has hosted 7 forums for approximately 450 community members. These discussions have been held in conjunction with local law enforcement, elected officials, and other community-based organizations. Through this work, our clients are more informed, but more importantly, feel supported and protected by the entire community.
There is still a lot of work to be done to support these families. Click here to donate
CRC provides high-quality educational programming that meets our community's needs
Our programs include enrichment opportunities for children, leadership development for teens, and language classes for adults.
Additionally, we offer computer courses, high school equivalency (GED), and citizenship classes for adults. We also provide health and wellness programs, such as Yoga Fitness and health workshops.
Our goal is to help our clients achieve their goals of self-sufficiency through our many programs. Maria is one of our many success stories.
Maria came to the United States from Central America in 1990 as an undocumented individual. Over the next ten years, Maria worked with the CRC to obtain her legal residency while she raised her family in Mamaroneck. Maria's dream was to become an American citizen like her children, so she made it a priority to study English and citizenship at the CRC.
"In the Citizenship Class "she says", "I not only learned about citizenship and civics, but also to write and read in English and prepare for my Citizenship interview. The teacher and classmates were supportive and inspiring. I am very happy that this February I passed my Citizenship test! My sons are very proud of me. I am very grateful and I want to thank to CRC for helping me achieve this very important goal."

CRC thanks its dynamic volunteers
The CRC depends on the talent and energy of our many volunteers to deliver high-quality programming to our clients. One example is Manuela, a new volunteer at the Center this year.
Manuela has over ten years of experience working with International organizations and NGOs. Prior to living in Mamaroneck, she lived and worked in France, Haiti, Bulgaria, Egypt and her native Italy.
Manuela has been able to leverage her experiences working with the United Nations and the University of Turin to provide CRC's staff and clients with a high-level of volunteer service and support. We are grateful for Manuela's dynamic contributions and thank her for all of her hard work.
To volunteer, email Marco Bohorquez, Manager of Programs & Workforce Development at [email protected]

Campaigns We Support:
GREEN LIGHT NY, Driving Together
In 2002, New York State made the decision to strip hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers of their drivers' licenses based on their immigration status. Suddenly, a simple traffic infraction had the real consequence of escalating to arrest and deportation. That danger has never been more real than it is today.
Currently New York State falls behind the rest of the country, where more than 12 states, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico made the choice to pass legislation that provides driver's license access to their undocumented residents.
On January 9th, 2017 the Village of Mamaroneck Board of Trustees voted unanimously on a resolution in support of the Green Light NY Campaign. This marked a local victory for the immigrant community living in the Village of Mamaroneck.
We are grateful for the Village of Mamaroneck and its Board of Trustees for supporting this campaign in a logical and empathetic manner.
